Timber and Timber Products & FLEGT (EU Exit) Regulations 2018 2018 No.1025 UK Timber Regulation
The UK Timber Regulation after 1st January 2021 will cover imports from the outside the UK. Currently under the EU Timber Regulation goods that have already been placed on the EU market only require us to maintain records of transactions as Traders.
However, after the 1st January 2021 we will (as Operators) be required to undertake suitable due diligence to determine negligible risk of ‘illegally harvested’ products entering the UK. Any products sourced from other UK Operators (who have already placed goods on the UK market); will be known as Trader transactions and subsequently these products do not require us to perform due diligence. This will have been implemented under their due diligence system. Consequently there will be some products sold by Capital hardwood that will be subject to due diligence under the regulation and others that will fall outside this remit.
Capital Hardwood take their commitments seriously. We have already started the process of due diligence (where applicable) to cover products supplied to you; our customers. To help mitigate the risk further we will continue to source and trade only FSC Certified products. This further enforces our commitment and provides greater clarity through the supply chain.
This is an on-going process and will be subject to regular review.
In the meantime please be assured that we have embarked on the process in an effort to be as proactive as possible
